Mumbai: Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava, the historical epic based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, continues to dominate the box office, crossing ₹286.75 crore in India by its ninth day. The film, starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, has maintained strong momentum as it enters its second weekend.
According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava raked in ₹44 crore on its second Saturday, demonstrating robust audience interest. The film registered an overall occupancy of 50.45% on Saturday, with peak viewership during evening shows at 61.82%.
A Strong Box Office Performance
The movie had a phenomenal first week, earning ₹219.25 crore in India after an opening day collection of ₹31 crore. It performed exceptionally well over its debut weekend, bringing in ₹37 crore on Saturday and ₹48.5 crore on Sunday. Entering its second week, Chhaava continued its upward trajectory with ₹23.5 crore on its second Friday, marking a 9.30% increase from Thursday’s ₹21.5 crore.

The film has received widespread acclaim, including recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his address at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Delhi, PM Modi acknowledged Chhaava’s impact, stating, “These days, Chhaava is making waves, showcasing the greatness of Marathi and Hindi cinema.”
