A bizarre incident unfolded during a screening of the film Chhaava in Gujarat's Bharuch, where a drunk man caused a scene by vandalizing the theater. The incident took place on Sunday night at RK Cinemas, where the man, later identified as Jayesh Vasava, tore up the movie screen while the film was playing. Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media, showing the man climbing up to the podium and ripping the screen with a fire extinguisher.
According to reports, the incident occurred during the 11:45 PM show, and the staff managed to apprehend Vasava before the damage could escalate further. This was not the only unusual fan behavior surrounding Chhaava's screenings. Earlier on Tuesday, another video surfaced showing a man arriving at the theater on horseback dressed as the film's titular character, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
About Chhaava
Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, recounts the story of the brave Maratha ruler, beginning with his coronation in 1681. The film also features Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandana in key roles. Despite its success at the box office, Chhaava has been mired in controversy. One such issue arose over a dance sequence involving the character of Sambhaji Maharaj, which was removed after objections from political figures, including Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant.
On its opening day, the film earned ₹33.10 crores in India and currently stands at ₹145 crores globally. Vicky Kaushal has spoken about the challenges of portraying the character, calling it the toughest role of his career and expressing pride in his work, stating, "I'm just happy that I get to say that this is the toughest role I've played till date. I hope I can continue to grow, not just as an actor but as a human being, with every role I take on."
