Tel Aviv : The Israeli military has acknowledged in an internal investigation that it failed to anticipate the scale and brutality of the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas and other Palestinian militants from Gaza.
"We did not even imagine such a scenario," a senior military official stated ahead of the probe’s release. The official admitted that Israeli forces were caught by surprise, both in terms of the size, scale, and intensity of the assault.
The October 7 attack saw thousands of Hamas fighters breach Israeli defenses, leading to mass casualties and hostage-taking. In response, Israel launched a massive military campaign in Gaza, resulting in extensive destruction and loss of life.
