Indian batting legend Virat Kohli rewrote the history books once again, becoming the fastest batter to reach 14,000 ODI runs during the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Pakistan. Kohli reached the milestone in just 287 innings, breaking the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the feat in 350 innings.
Kohli joined Kumar Sangakkara as only the third batter to cross 14,000 runs in ODIs, but he is now the only player to reach the mark in under 300 innings.
Reaching the Landmark in Style
Needing just 15 runs before the game, Kohli wasted no time, achieving the record with a stylish boundary off Haris Rauf in the 13th over.
Pakistan’s Batting Struggles Continue
Pakistan, batting first, managed to score 241 all out, thanks to a 62-run knock by Saud Shakeel and 46 from Mohammad Rizwan. A quickfire 38 from Khushdil Shah provided some late resistance, but India’s bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav (3/40), kept them in check.
With this win, India moves closer to securing a semi-final spot, while Pakistan faces elimination after back-to-back losses in the tournament.
