New Delhi: Former India captain MS Dhoni has finally addressed his much-discussed message to Virat Kohli after the latter's unexpected resignation as India's Test captain in January 2022. During a corporate event, Dhoni shed light on his text, which Kohli had earlier described as a rare moment of personal support from a former teammate.

Dhoni, known for maintaining a low profile and limiting contact with teammates outside the field, acknowledged that he is "not great" at staying in touch. However, he emphasized that there are moments when a person truly needs support, and that is when a simple message can make a difference.

Key Highlights of Dhoni's Response:

  1. Deja Vu Moment: When asked about the message, Dhoni quipped, "It's deja vu. I was asked a similar question on a JioHotstar show; you will see the answer during the IPL."

  2. Rare Personal Connection: Dhoni admitted that he is not the kind to stay in touch with people frequently, but when he senses someone needs him, he makes an effort to reach out.

  3. Kohli’s Revelation: In September 2022, after an Asia Cup match against Pakistan, Kohli publicly shared that Dhoni was the only former teammate who had reached out after his Test captaincy resignation. "Many people have my number. On TV, people give a lot of suggestions and opinions, but none of them sent me a message—except MS Dhoni," Kohli had said.

  4. Viral Video: Dhoni’s recent comments have since gone viral on social media, reigniting discussions about his leadership and mentorship even after retirement.

With the IPL season approaching, Dhoni’s full response is expected to be featured in an upcoming JioHotstar show, adding to the anticipation of cricket fans eager to hear more from the legendary skipper.
