Mumbai : Comedian Samay Raina has addressed the growing controversy surrounding his YouTube show India’s Got Latent, stating that the situation has become overwhelming for him. In response to the backlash over objectionable remarks made on the show by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Raina has removed all episodes of the series from his channel.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Raina shared his first reaction to the issue. “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you,” he wrote.
Police Investigation and FIR Registered
The controversy erupted after certain remarks made by Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode of India’s Got Latent were deemed inappropriate. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has since registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Authorities have also directed the show’s producers to remove all 18 episodes from social media platforms.
According to officials, a preliminary investigation indicated that vulgar and obscene language had been used in multiple episodes of the show. The police have summoned over 40 individuals, including Raina and Allahbadia, to join the probe.
Legal Developments and Industry Response
As the controversy unfolds, several high-profile digital content creators, including social media influencer Apoorva Makhija and Allahbadia’s manager, have provided statements to the police. Meanwhile, legal representatives of some individuals involved have requested additional time to respond to the summons.
The incident has reignited discussions about regulating content on digital platforms, with many debating whether stricter guidelines should be enforced to prevent similar controversies in the future.
