Seoul — South Korea’s SK Hynix reported record second-quarter earnings, driven by strong demand for its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in AI technologies.
The chipmaker posted 22.23 trillion won ($16.17 billion) in revenue, up 35% from a year earlier. Operating profit rose 69% to 9.21 trillion won, surpassing analyst expectations.
HBM sales contributed 77% of total Q2 revenue, with SK Hynix confirming it expects to double HBM sales in 2025. The company is a major supplier to Nvidia and plans to begin mass production of HBM4 by year-end.
SK Hynix recently overtook Samsung in the global DRAM market and is investing further to maintain its lead. Analysts say its advantage in AI memory is likely to continue through 2026.
