Dr. Priscilla Kucer’s academic journey was far from conventional. Growing up, she faced significant challenges in school, particularly in reading and mathematics. Misreading information and struggling with spelling became a common occurrence, making learning a difficult experience. It wasn’t until she pursued a Specialist degree in School Psychology at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in the U.S. that Priscilla discovered she had dyslexia. This revelation helped her understand the struggles she faced throughout her academic life and recognize the coping mechanisms she had developed over the years to achieve success.
Prior to NSU, Priscilla completed her primary and secondary education in Barbados, later earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of the West Indies – Cave Hill Campus. Her elective courses in human resources and business played a pivotal role in her professional development, providing a strong foundation for her career. Though initially pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at NSU, Priscilla soon realized her true calling lay elsewhere, leading her to switch paths and enter the School Psychology program. Her interest in organizational development and leadership, combined with mentorship and vocational assessments, later inspired her to pursue a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University.
